Collectible Value of Odd Size Libertads and Lunars
I am interested in collecting proof Libertads. What do you think of the collectible value of 2 oz or 5 oz proof Libertads compared to the 1 oz proof coins. The mintage numbers for the 2 oz and 5 oz coins are, in some cases, 75% less than the 1 oz.
I guess that I could ask the same question about the "odd" size Australian silver Lunar coins? Any opinions would be welcomed. Thank you. |
Re: Collectible Value of Odd Size Libertads and Lunars
Collectors will always be willing to pay more than bullion value for things they collect, hence the general higher prices for collectible coins over bullion coins. Personally, I like odd sized coins and if I found one I wanted, I would pay a premium above bullion value. The danger is when you attempt to sell them. You either need to find someone interested in collecting them who will be willing to pay a higher premium, or sell as bullion and possibly take a loss.
